Parallel Perspectives – International Conference on Artistic Research, Design and Music

The Faculty of Arts and Design of Széchenyi István University will organise the Parallel Perspectives: International Conference on Artistic Research, Design and Music in Győr on 20–21 November 2026.

The conference aims to provide an international academic platform for exploring the intersections of artistic research, design, music and interdisciplinary inquiry. It brings together researchers, artists, designers, educators and creative professionals to discuss how diverse forms of creative research contribute to knowledge production, innovation and contemporary cultural discourse.

The 2026 edition focuses on artistic research, technological mediation, social responsibility, institutional structures, innovation ecosystems, and the relationship between tradition and future-oriented creative practices.

The main sections of the conference are:

Design Theory
Design Research
Music Theory, Performance, and Music Education

The conference is also relevant for the RGDI community, as the design-related sections welcome research topics with regional dimensions. The call includes themes such as regional identity, cultural heritage, place-based innovation, knowledge transfer, creative ecosystems, social innovation, responsible design, higher education transformation and innovation.

The programme will include lectures, lecture recital formats, academic events, awards and a concert. Accepted abstracts will be published in a conference proceedings volume with an ISBN, and the organisers also plan further publication opportunities.
