Doctoral training in regional and economic sciences in Győr has a long-standing tradition. Its founding director, Professor János Rechnitzer, was an iconic figure among Hungarian regional scientists. At the time of its establishment, the School filled a significant gap — not only within the region, but across the entire Hungarian higher education landscape in the disciplines it covered.
